 | Whatley Slams 5 Hits for Los Angeles College Sunday, April 17th , 2039 The Los Angeles College Cossacks stopped the Los Angeles College Purple Warriors by a score of 17-7 at Cossacks Park, with the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Chris Whatley. The 19-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Whatley said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Whatley did just that in his 6 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Purple Warriors. "Not much that I can say," offered Los Angeles College manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us." Chris Whatley doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Matt Brown in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and singled in the 8th. For the season, Whatley is currently batting .328 with 17 home runs and 47 RBIs. In 44 games he has reached base at a .401 rate and scored 36 runs to date. |   |
