| Bombs Away: Magne Slams 4 Homers Friday, June 30th , 2045 Nothing could stop Mathieu Magne -- certainly not the Medford Havoc pitching staff.
The 29-year-old catcher for the Long Island River Otters sent 4 baseballs soaring out of Honkers Park and made his name a part of history. Behind his barrage, the River Otters earned a win, 20-0, over the Havoc.
"In the standings, a loss is just a loss, but this one was frustrating," Havoc manager said later. "He clobbered us."
Magne's dream game included 5 hits in 7 at-bats, 4 homers, 6 runs driven in and 5 runs scored.
"I know all the stories are going to be about me today, and that's OK," Magne told the press in the locker room after the game. "Next time, it'll be one of the other guys."
Mathieu Magne hit a two-run home run off Melvin Moreno in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Melvin Moreno in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 7th, struck out in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.
Magne is currently hitting at a .282 pace with 8 home runs and 13 RBIs. He has played in 28 games and scored 12 times. | | |
