| Red-Hot Shank Scorches Mandarinas Tuesday, July 18th , 2045 Winter Hawks left fielder John Shank had his way with Matanzas pitching at New Orleans Grounds and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Mandarinas ruined his great day by toppling the Winter Hawks, 13-7.
"I had a great day, but you've got to give Matanzas credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits."
"Oh, we noticed what Shank did today," Mandarinas skipper said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him."
John Shank singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Victor Torres in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
