 | Red-Hot Shank Scorches Mandarinas Tuesday, July 18th , 2045 Winter Hawks left fielder John Shank had his way with Matanzas pitching at New Orleans Grounds and mauled them for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. His efforts were all in vain, though, as the Mandarinas ruined his great day by toppling the Winter Hawks, 13-7. "I had a great day, but you've got to give Matanzas credit, they did what they had to do to win," he told reporters after the game. "They weren't very impressed with my 5 hits." "Oh, we noticed what Shank did today," Mandarinas skipper said. "He had quite a game. I can tell you this, we will pitch him a little differently the next time we face him." John Shank singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Victor Torres in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. This season in 19 games, Shank has hit at a .294 clip with 20 hits, 7 home runs, 13 RBIs and 17 runs scored. |   |
