| Bucks Not Competitive in 7-0 Loss to St. Louis Thursday, May 22nd , 2042 Mike Hoopengardner of the St. Louis Arch Angels was on top of his game.
The 26-year-old tantalized the Bell Center Bucks with crisp curves and changeups, mixed in with just enough fastballs to keep the batters honest, shutting them out, 7-0.
"He had the changeup working," Bell Center manager said in postgame comments. "You knew it was coming and you still grounded out -- and then he threw it even slower."
The St. Louis hurler had 8 strikeouts, gave up 1 walk and surrendered 5 hits in his complete-game effort.
Hoopengardner told reporters after the game that "keeping the ball down is the key to being successful in this league."
"If you don't do that, they'll make you pay," he said.
On his stats sheet this season, Hoopengardner shows a 3-0 record, 9 starts, 62.2 innings, 64 strikeouts and a 2.73 ERA. | | |
