| Sub League 2 Picks Top Performer Monday, June 23rd , 2042 Waco's Sergio Melendez would not be denied the Sub League 2 Player of the Week Award for this past week. His consistent stroke, which produced 12 hits in 20 at-bats and a .600 average, made him the clear favorite to win the honor.
"You just go out there and do what you have to do," said Melendez, "When I'm up, I try to focus and block everything else out of my mind and have a good at-bat. I'm up there to get a hit or advance a runner, not to get caught up in the emotion of the moment. I hope I can win this award every week."
He also tallied 2 home runs, 6 RBIs, and scored 10 runs.
In 63 games this season, Melendez has compiled a .312 batting average with 81 hits and 25 home runs. He has also scored 61 times and knocked in 60 runs. | | |
