| Shannon Strokes 5 Hits Saturday, July 13th , 2041 Shoccoe first baseman Blake Shannon added his name to the record books with a 5-hit spree at Crawfish Park, but found his special moment spoiled when the Chiniak Alouettes took a shootout win, 17-10, over the Crawfish.
"I would have much preferred getting only a couple of hits and winning the game," he confessed to reporters afterward. "It's hard to go back into the clubhouse and celebrate a 5-hit game when you also lost."
Crawfish manager called Shannon's game "a once-in-a-lifetime moment."
"It's a shame the guy can't really enjoy it," the skipper said. "It's also a shame what happened with our pitching, but at least that we can try to fix."
Blake Shannon singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Jerry Perez in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Nick Rico in the 9th.
Shannon is hitting .365 so far this season with 14 RBIs and 13 runs scored. He has 19 hits including 8 home runs, 6 walks and .441 OBP. | | |
