| Crackers Chill Schmitz Hot Streak Friday, July 28th , 2045 Bradley catcher Brian Schmitz came into today's game against the Cabo San Lucas Crackers on a hot streak. He left on a cold one.
The Crackers did their jobs well, beating the Bradley River Sharks, 6-4, and holding Schmitz hitless to snap his 25-game hitting streak. The 23-year-old catcher had a few words to say after finishing 0-for-3, telling reporters only that he "came up short."
"What Brian did was exciting and quite an achievement," said River Sharks manager . "It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 25 games in a row. I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."
Looking at his present stats, Schmitz has compiled a .347 batting average in 30 games with a .439 on-base percentage, while hitting 9 home runs and driving in 27 runs. | | |
