| Thorne Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 21 Thursday, June 30th , 2044 Late in the game, all eyes in Leaf Rapids Stadium were on Adam Thorne as he stepped into the batter box. His 21-game hitting streak was on the line, and he had a zero in the hit column on the day. Sadly for Thorne, it was not meant to be -- the zero would stay and the streak would end.
If there was a silver lining for Thorne, it was that his Leaf Rapids Flying Tigers won the game anyway, stopping the Fairview, Lincoln County Gryphons by the score of 5-4.
"Winning took some of the disappointment out of it," Thorne told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 21 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
This year, Thorne is hitting .320 with 8 hits, 1 home run, 6 RBIs and has scored 7 runs. | | |
