| Valenzuela on Fire: 5-for-6 for Kingston Friday, June 28th , 2041 After a 5-hit effort to lead Kingston's 12-1 victory over the New Caney Bulldozers, second baseman Santiago Valenzuela told BNN beat writers it had been "a special day."
"It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college, two hits in a game is nice," he said. "Three or four is better, but five or more is out of sight. And to do that at the FBL Short Season A-level is really something special."
The 18-year-old player earned his accolades at New Caney Fields with a spectacular 5-for-6 game against the Bulldozers.
"His swing is getting there," said Pirates skipper , who spoke glowingly of Valenzuela after the game. "We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Santiago did that to perfection."
Santiago Valenzuela singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 8th. | | |
