| Great Day for Ortega, Hits for Cycle Wednesday, July 24th , 2041 Getting 4 hits in a game is no easy feat, but doing it to hit for the cycle is even more rare.
Carlos Ortega of the View Flying Squirrels pulled it off at Flying Squirrels Grove, going 4-for-4 against the Bixby Skyliners. His batting escapades sparked the Flying Squirrels to a win, 5-2.
Ortega tallied 2 runs and drove in 1 during the game. Hitting for the cycle is particularly rare because of the different skills required - enough power for a home run, enough speed for a triple and enough patience at the plate to see at least four hittable balls.
"It just happened," Ortega said to reporters after the win. "Must have been fate or something, I wasn't expecting it. Heck, I wasn't even really trying for it."
Carlos Ortega singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, tripled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Efrain Lugo in the 8th.
So far this season, Ortega has put up a .417 batting average with 10 hits, 2 home runs and 3 RBIs. | | |
