Phoenix Firebirds starter Johnny Beairsto pitched his team past the Seattle Pilots, 7-2. Phoenix currently is in third place in the United South at 37-25.

Rich Unruh had a big bases-clearing double for the Firebirds in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Phoenix leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Rodolfo Bustamante and swatted a double to left. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Firebirds ahead, 6-2.

"I like the vibe in the clubhouse after a win," said Beairsto. "It sure beats the alternative."
