| Empire Reel Off Another Win | The rain did not keep New York and Boston from finishing their game.
The New York Empire rode a solid performance from 23-year-old starting pitcher Juan Albidrez to a win, beating the Boston Kings, 5-2, at Empire Ballpark. The winner was Albidrez. He threw 8.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Nate Smith. Ricky Rael sewed up the save, his 4th.
With one out in the bottom of the third, Melvin Ramos put New York in front, 2-0, with a run-scoring single. The Empire went on to win the ballgame.
"It's fun coming to the ballpark," said Ramos, "when you're on this kind of roll."
The Empire, now 14-4, have played inspired baseball. | | | | |
