| Rangers Stick Queens with 8-5 Loss | The Houston Rangers defeated the Denver Queens, 8-5, in part because of center fielder Joe Medeiros. Medeiros went 3-4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2 for the Rangers. Jalen Griffin, the winner, improved to 1-0. He held Denver to 4 runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Enrique Castro nailed down the save.
Miguel Loayza's at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was significant, coming with runners on 1st and 3rd and the game tied, 4-4. The Houston shortstop hit a run-scoring single off Kareem Brobbey to put the Rangers up.
Medeiros told a Houston Today reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
The win has Houston at 26-44. | | | | |
