| Firebirds Come Back Late to Top Jets, 4-1 | Johnny Beairsto, who is on pace to win 15 games this season, never let the Jets get in a groove. The right-hander used his bread and butter, his cutter, to pitch the Firebirds to a win, 4-1. In 8 innings, Beairsto surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. The win lifted the Phoenix record to 42-30.
Victor Chavez took Dallas hurler Andy Urso deep in the bottom of the eighth. His 3-run home run put the Firebirds on top, 4-1. In all, Chavez had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.
