The Houston Rangers topped the Dallas Jets, 11-5, in United action at Globe Life Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Houston designated hitter Eddie Brenes. Jake Braun, now 2-3, picked up the win in relief. He allowed 4 runs on 4 hits in 6 innings. The third-place Rangers have won 4 straight.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the seventh, with the game tied, Noboru Endo was at the plate when Houston scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Rangers to go in front, 6-5.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Houston skipper David Fields.
