| 5-Hit Game for Unruh | Players get multi-hit games all the time, but 5-hit ones are a whole lot rarer. It happened at Pioneers Park when Rich Unruh of Phoenix scattered 5 hits all over the ballpark against the San Francisco Pioneers.
He went 5-for-6 in a career performance to help the Firebirds get by the Pioneers, 16-1. The second baseman was in a talkative and jovial mood after the game, saying his swing "was really, really there today."
"I made some good, sweet-spot contact and when that happens, good things happen," he said. "You know, like going 5-for-6. I could get used to days like this."
Rich Unruh grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Mike Ludwigs in the 4th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
