The Phoenix Firebirds topped the San Francisco Pioneers by a score of 7-5. Leading the way was center fielder Dwayne Bland. Bland went 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 3 for the Firebirds. Phoenix has now won 8 straight, while the Pioneers have lost 4 in a row.

Phoenix used the timely hitting of Josh Williams to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Firebirds on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
