| Seattle Keeps Trending in Wrong Direction | Houston pitcher Walt Samuels did his part in helping his team beat the Seattle Pilots, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. Samuels yielded 3 runs over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 4. His record improves to 9-4. Ruben Perez got the save, his 17th in 21 chances.
An inflection point occurred with one out in the bottom of the third. That's when Rangers catcher Tony Castellanos hit a changeup from Rodolfo Bustamante for a 2-run single. Just like that, Houston was up, 4-3.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Samuels said.
The losses continue to mount for Seattle, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
