Red-Hot Firebirds Win Again
Phoenix got a strong outing from Jim Burrows as the Firebirds defeated the Houston Rangers, 2-1, at Firebirds Ballpark. Burrows got the win, improving to 4-8. He gave up 4 hits and walked 2 over 6.1 innings. He allowed 1 run. Phoenix has won 11 straight, while Houston has lost 4 in a row.

The Firebirds got a big boost from right fielder Ezra MacPherson who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off Rangers hurler Jesus Arenas. It was his 21st walk of the season and put Phoenix on top, 1-0.

"Our pitching was the difference tonight," MacPherson said.
