Jim Charron was a vital contributor to the 7-6 Miami victory over Chicago. The Makos designated hitter was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice. Bill Brown picked up the win in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Jarred Mudd suffered the loss. The win puts Miami at 10-9.

Miami got a knockout punch from Willie de la Rosa. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Walking a team off at the end -- there's no greater feeling," said de la Rosa.
