| Rodriguez Helps Phoenix Cruise to 11-3 Win | Soggy conditions did not keep Phoenix and Mexico City from playing their scheduled game.
The Phoenix Firebirds stopped the Mexico City Marauders , 11-3, at Marauders Field. The Firebirds got a big game from Roberto Rodriguez, who went 3-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Phoenix pitcher Johnny Beairsto earned the win, hiking his record to 12-4. Rafael Molina suffered the loss.
In the top of the second inning, the Firebirds grabbed the lead when Aaron Devine rapped a two-out single. Phoenix was trailing 1-0, when Devine hit a 2-run single off Rafael Molina to put his team in front, 2-1.
"My job is to go out and play as hard as I can for the Firebirds," said Devine.
Phoenix goes to 54-33, Mexico City to 55-32.
