| Twisters Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel | Oklahoma City got a first-rate effort from pitcher Mike Clark, who frustrated Phoenix hitters en route to a 1-0 Twisters triumph at Wranglers Ballpark. Picking up the save was three-time All-Star Chad Strickland. The first-place Twisters, at 49-41, lead the United Central by 6 games.
The Twisters got a big at-bat from first baseman Tony Quere. For the game, Quere went 1-4 with a home run. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 29th home run of the season gave Oklahoma City a 1-0 lead.
"Mike was able to locate to both sides, up and down," said Oklahoma City manager David Fields. | | | | |
