Rangers Earn Late Win
The Houston Rangers defeated the San Francisco Pioneers, 3-2, in United action at Globe Life Field. Houston pitcher Hector Garcia had a standout performance. Garcia got the win, improving to 5-8. He gave up 6 hits and walked 0 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Enrique Castro was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 16 of 20 save opportunities.

Houston took a 3-2 lead on Eddie Brenes's 12th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Brenes hit in the bottom of the eighth, left San Francisco pitcher Robert Medina visibly frustrated.

Garcia called the win a test of his team's "mettle."

The Rangers raised their record to 35-56.
