The Empire grabbed a win, 4-3, at Empire Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Detroit pitcher Christophe Robert. Robert went 6.1 innings and allowed no runs. The winner was New York reliever Danny Ortiz, now 1-0. The loser was Dave Labbee. New York goes to 2-1.

New York took a 4-3 lead on Steve Lynn's 1st triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Lynn hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Detroit pitcher Dave Labbee visibly frustrated.

"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Detroit manager David Fields. "The effort was great."
