| Firebirds Absorb 6-5 Home Loss | Both teams had their chances, but the Oklahoma City Twisters eventually prevailed.
Phoenix third baseman Aaron Devine had a good game in a losing cause. His team fell, 6-5, to Oklahoma City at Firebirds Ballpark. Devine was 2-3 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. Raul Lopez was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he yielded 3 runs on 6 hits, with 3 walks and 7 strikeouts. Chad Strickland was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 26 of 29 save opportunities.
Oklahoma City used a clutch at-bat from Mark Hodges to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the third inning to put the Twisters ahead, 5-2. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We took home the win," said Hodges. "What's not to like?"
The first-place Twisters, at 61-30, lead the United Central by 9 games.
