| Peaches Shut Out Firebirds, 1-0 | Jordan Nunez, the 25th overall pick in the 2040 draft, imposed his will on the Firebirds from the get-go. Relying mainly on his fastball, the left-hander spearheaded the 1-0 Atlanta triumph. Nunez got the win, improving to 6-6. He gave up 1 hit and walked 2 over 6 innings. He allowed no runs. The win has Atlanta at 32-66.
The Firebirds had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Peaches going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old third baseman Danny Scott came to the plate. Scott hit a solo home run on a 1-0 fastball from Phoenix hurler Gus Marquez. It was Scott's 6th home run of the year.
"I felt good up there," said Scott. "I saw the ball well." | | | | |
