Fans watched the New York Empire and the Arlington Arsenal fight to the finish.

Behind a solid performance from first baseman Brandon Buchanan, the New York Empire defeated the Arlington Arsenal, 7-6. Buchanan went 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Empire. The winner was Danny Garcia, who threw 87 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 6 runs on 10 hits.

New York used a well-timed hit by Steve Lynn to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Empire ahead, 4-2. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Lynn, "but we got it done."

New York, now 15-6, has played well in the early going.
