| Pioneers Victors, 6-5, at Seattle | The San Francisco Pioneers did just enough to sneak past the Seattle Pilots, 6-5, at Pilots Park. San Francisco right fielder Mike Wagner, in particular, had a standout performance. The triumph makes San Francisco 24-79.
San Francisco used a clutch at-bat from Carlos Rivera to capture the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Pioneers ahead, 6-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Rivera.
