| New York Tacks 5-2 Loss on Orlando | The first-place New York Empire took on the Orlando Orange in front of a spirited crowd.
The New York Empire rode a solid performance from 21-year-old starting pitcher Danny Garcia to a win, beating the Orlando Orange, 5-2, at Empire Ballpark. Garcia, now 4-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 12 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Manny Grijalva closed the game out for New York, earning his 8th save.
Dave Nelson, the 20th overall pick in the 2040 draft, helped out the New York cause in the bottom of the sixth inning with a 2-run double. For the game, the right fielder was 2-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"Danny's not intimidated by who's stepping into the batter's box," said New York manager David Fields.
