| Tampa Bay Earns 7-6 Win | The Tampa Bay Sunrays beat the Miami Makos, 7-6, in 10 innings at Honolulu Stadium. Tampa Bay left fielder Antonio Cedeno had an outstanding performance. He was 1-4 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. John Winsor picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Fidel Medina, who is a two-time All-Star, was tagged with the loss. Tampa Bay has a record of 11-14, placing them third in the Independent South.
Tampa Bay won the game in part because of Carlos Gonzales. The designated hitter ripped a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Sunrays ahead, 7-6. For the game, Gonzales had 1 double and 1 home run in 5 at-bats.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Cedeno said. | | | | |
