| Empire Deal Sunrays 4-3 Loss | Crowds lined up early in front of Empire Ballpark, eagerly awaiting the start of the 2042 Federal Baseball League season. On the mound was Benjamin Lecomte for the visiting Tampa Bay Sunrays and Mike Clark for the hometown New York Empire. In a spirited contest, the Empire pulled out the win, defeating the Sunrays by the score of 4-3. Especially impressive was Benjamin Lecomte.
The Empire got a clutch hit from center fielder Willie Reyes. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Empire.
"Enough drama for you?" winked Empire manager David Fields after the game.
