| Empire Spill Vipers, 5-3 | The New York Empire picked up a win at Vipers Park, topping the Detroit Vipers, 5-3. On the mound for New York was right-hander Bobby Frausto. He played a principal role in the triumph. New York reliever Bobby Frausto, who finished 5th in the IL in wins with 11 last year, was credited with the win. His record goes to 2-2. Dan Throop took the loss for Detroit. John Pilkington earned save number 3.
New York used a clutch at-bat from Tim Murray to capture the win. The designated hitter hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Empire ahead, 5-3. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Bobby was throwing with conviction," said New York manager David Fields.
The win has New York at 11-17.
