| Chicago Win Evens Series at 2 | Chicago starter Ryan Smith turned in an exceptional performance and got some last-minute help as the Hawks forced the Divisional into a decisive Game 5. The right-handed Smith threw 6.1 innings of shutout ball in a must-win situation against the Toronto Robbers, keeping Chicago close enough to take the 4-1 victory on a 9th-inning walk-off. The winner of the series will advance to the Conference Championship.
The decisive blow was delivered by Jose Garcia in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 3-run home run off 32-year old left-handed pitcher Jose Ramirez to win the game for Chicago. The home crowd went nuts.
"Ryan was doing a good job pouring in strikes," said Chicago manager David Fields.
The next game is set to be played for Monday, August 9th , 2038 at Mounties Park in Toronto.
