| Pioneers, Queens Play 13 to Settle Game 1, San Francisco Now Leads Series 1-0 | The San Francisco Pioneers took the first game of the Divisional in dramatic fashion, topping the Denver Queens, 4-3, in an extra-inning walk-off win. Pioneers left-hander Ruben Sanchez threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball.
With the game on the line, Danny Baros came to bat in the bottom of the 13th. And the San Francisco catcher came through, cracking a run-scoring single off Sergio Aguilar, the Denver pitcher.
Baros attributed the win to "a well-rounded effort by the whole team."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Pioneers Park in San Francisco. | | | | |
