| Critical Game 5 Goes to Host Empire, 4-2 | Game 5 was big. So was Mike Clark.
In leading New York to a crucial 4-2 victory over the Chicago Hawks at Empire Ballpark, the New York starter rose to the occasion, tossing 7.1 good innings. Clark threw 7.1 innings of 6-hit ball as the Empire defended their home field to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Conference Championship.
In the bottom of the fifth, New York right fielder Jorge Hernandez had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 2nd and no one out, Hernandez stroked a run-scoring double to right. It made the score 3-2, New York. For the game, he was 1-4 with a double.
After the game, New York manager David Fields applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The next game is set to be played for Thursday, August 19th , 2038 at Hawks Park in Chicago.
