Miami took on Montreal in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. Juan Magana, in particular, was fantastic. The Miami right-hander helped his team snag the win, 2-1. Miami reliever Walt Dudash picked up the win, raising his record to 2-1. Val Kerr was tagged with the loss. The Makos have now won 4 straight.

Miami took a 2-1 lead on Mario Moreno's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Moreno hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Montreal pitcher Val Kerr visibly frustrated.

"I told Juan we needed some fire in the engine room," Makos manager David Fields said, grinning. "And he responded."
