| Makos Beat Kings in 11 | The Miami Makos picked up a win at Condors Park, knocking off the Boston Kings, 9-4, in 11 innings. On the mound for Miami was right-hander J.P. Lutz. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Brian Swetha came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 2-1. The third-place Makos have won 6 straight.
Miami used the timely hitting of Steve Douglas to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Makos on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It all comes down to execution," said Miami manager David Fields. "Baseball 101." | | | | |
