| Kings Sneak Past Fury, 5-4 | The Philadelphia Fury could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Dave Kellermann into a win. Instead, the Boston Kings prevailed, 5-4. Kellermann threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Marty Graf in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Josh Hendrickson took the loss. Joe Penrod earned the save, his 1st, for the Kings.
Boston used the timely hitting of Stuart Hively to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Kings on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Philadelphia manager David Fields. "But we decided not to take it."
Boston goes to 2-2.
