Empire Take Tight Tangle
The Miami Makos got a sterling performance from pitcher Malachi Brock, but the New York Empire still prevailed, 4-3. Brock threw 7.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Manny Tellado, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. New York leads the Independent Central by 2 games.

New York took a 4-3 lead on Julio Apodaca's 7th double of the season. The 2-run double, which Apodaca hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Miami pitcher Ron Mello visibly frustrated.

"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Apodaca told the New York Herald.
