| Vipers Earn Late 6-5 Win | The Detroit Vipers faced a tough opponent in Boston pitcher Nate Smith, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Vipers Park by a final score of 6-5 in 10 innings. Smith went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. The Vipers go to 16-17, putting them third in the Independent North Division.
The decisive blow was delivered by Chris Lightfoot in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 22-year old right-handed pitcher Carlos Ayala to win the game for Detroit. The home crowd went nuts.
