| Vipers Roll to 10-3 Win Over Empire | The Detroit Vipers topped the New York Empire, 10-3, in Independent action at Vipers Park. The standout performance belonged to Detroit pitcher and Dale City, Virginia, native Steve Van Orsdol. Van Orsdol, the winner, moves to 5-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up no walks. Detroit raised its record to 18-17 with the win.
Detroit went up, 5-0, on Ivan Galiano's 6th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Galiano hit in the bottom of the eighth, left New York pitcher Jesus Reyes feeling deflated.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Van Orsdol told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
