| Chicago Defeats Orlando, 3-2 | The Orlando Orange were defeated, 3-2, by the Chicago Hawks at Orange Park, even though Matt Harris pitched well for Orlando. Ryan Smith earned the win, while two-time All-Star Matt Harris took the loss for Orlando. Mike Spaw recorded the save for Chicago, his 5th of the season.
Chicago used a clutch at-bat from Steve Thomas to capture the win. The catcher hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Hawks ahead, 3-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Thomas said. "That's why you play the game."
Chicago has now won 5 games in a row.
