| Late Rally by Vipers Locks Up 7-3 Win | The Miami Makos could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Justin Brussow into a win. Instead, the Detroit Vipers prevailed, 7-3. Brussow threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Dave Ortolaza earned the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3 innings. He upped his record to 1-0. With the win, Detroit has a record of 15-20. Miami falls to 23-12.
Detroit used the timely hitting of Rudolf Bishop to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Vipers on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"Very pleased with the effort on our side," said Bishop.
