Arsenal Topple Jackals with Late Rally
The Arlington Arsenal topped the Jacksonville Jackals, 5-3, with first baseman Jose Vertiz playing a big role. Vertiz went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Arsenal in the win. The win went to Luis Calderon in relief. His record improves to 2-3. Mike Ludwig took the loss. Arlington is now 20-15. Jacksonville is 14-21.

Bobby Pena came through with a big-time hit for Arlington. The designated hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 4-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It feels good to get this one," Pena told the Arlington Citizen.
