| Miami Beats Orlando in 11-Inning Thriller | Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Miami Makos and Orlando Orange.
The Makos earned a hard-fought, 5-3 win in 11 innings at Orange Park. To do so required withstanding a fine effort from Orlando pitcher Mike Masters. Masters went 8 innings and allowed 1 run. Jesus Barajas snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-1 on the season. Bill Meagher suffered the loss.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Jose Puente came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Orlando pitcher Bill Meagher, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Miami on top, 4-3.
"We did a lot of things right," said Puente.
The win puts Miami at 19-18 this season.
