The Chicago Hawks got a strong performance from pitcher Chris Carrell, who stymied the Montreal offense en route to a win, 3-2, at Hawks Park. Mike Spaw earned save number 6 this season. The Hawks, at 18-19, inhabit first place in the Independent North Division.

With scoring opportunities rare, the Hawks had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the fifth, when shortstop Danny Alvarado hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Salvador Gonzalez and made the score 3-0, Hawks. Alvarado was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Carrell said.
