| Kings Turn Away Fury, 5-3 | The Boston Kings picked up a win at Condors Park, knocking off the Philadelphia Fury, 5-3. On the mound for Boston was right-hander Miguel Salguero. He played a key role in the triumph. Boston, at 18-19, holds down second place in the Independent Central.
The Kings got a big at-bat from first baseman Bobby Mendoza. For the game, Mendoza was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 8th home run of the season gave Boston a 4-2 lead.
Said Boston manager David Fields: "At the end of the day, these guys have to perform between the lines, and I think they did."
