| Fury Sunk by Empire | New York beat Philadelphia on the strength of starting pitcher Danny Garcia's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Garcia, now 5-1, was the winner. In 7.2 innings, he gave up 9 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Manny Grijalva recorded the save, his 12th.
Steve Lynn, who is tied for 7th in the IL in RBI with 27, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lynn contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning to put New York up, 2-1.
"Tough loss," said Philadelphia manager David Fields. "The kind that burns a little inside."
The win gives New York a season record of 24-13.
