| Hawks Edge Kings, 1-0 | Starting pitcher Stephen Wilkins gave the Chicago Hawks a rock-solid effort. The Savage, Minnesota native helped his team defeat the Boston Kings, 1-0, at Condors Park. Wilkins got the win, improving to 4-3. He gave up 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. He allowed no runs. Chicago is now 20-21, 2½ games up in the Independent North Division.
Chicago used a timely hit from Danny Alvarado to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Hawks ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it made an impact.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Wilkins.
