| Chico 3-for-4, Makos Move to 27-13 | Miami designated hitter Juan Chico was instrumental in helping the Makos triumph, 9-1, over the New York Empire. Chico was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Justin Brussow got the win, improving to 2-1. He held the Empire to 1 run on 5 hits over 7 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 1. The win lifted the Miami record to 27-13.
With Miami leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Chico hit a 2-run single off New York hurler Dave Alatorre. It was the 33rd hit of the season for Chico and put his team ahead, 3-0.
