| Sunrays Handed 5-2 Loss by New York | New York and Tampa Bay duked it out and the Empire came out victorious.
New York Empire starter Josue Ortiz turned in a top-notch performance against the Tampa Bay Sunrays at Empire Ballpark. The result was a win for the Empire, 5-2. Manny Grijalva locked down his 15th save.
Had Brandon Buchanan not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Buchanan hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Empire.
"It was just a matter of executing," said New York manager David Fields.
With the win, the Empire sit at 29-17.
